What this hub covers
Division 08 glazing procurement involves more moving parts than most subcontract scopes. You have long lead materials (10–18 weeks for curtainwall), NOA compliance requirements in HVHZ, specialty engineering for anchor conditions, and a submittal process that touches the architect, the structural engineer, and the building department. This hub organizes the most common questions we receive from GCs, owners, and design teams into five reference pages.

How to bid a Division 08 glazing scope — overview
Step 1 — Identify the system type from the drawings
Before pricing anything, confirm what system the architect has specified: storefront, curtainwall, window wall, or some combination. The spec section number tells you the system family. Section 08 44 13 is curtainwall; 08 41 13 is storefront; 08 43 13 is storefronts with special requirements. If the drawings conflict with the spec, that is your first RFI.
Step 2 — Check compliance requirements
Is the project in Florida's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (Miami-Dade, Broward)? If so, every assembly must hold a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance. Outside HVHZ, Florida Product Approval (FPA) applies. For projects in Tennessee, Georgia, or Alabama, you are under IBC wind speed mapping and ASTM E330 structural testing standards. The compliance path affects product selection, lead times, and installed cost.
Step 3 — Pull the full spec and flag scope gaps
Read the full Division 08 spec — not just your system section. Other sections frequently affect glazing: fire-rated assemblies (08 81 00), specialty glass (08 80 00), hardware (08 71 00), and automatic entrance systems (08 46 00). Gaps and conflicts between sections become clarifications in your bid or RFIs during pre-construction.
Step 4 — Build the proposal with clear inclusions and exclusions
A solid glazing proposal states: system manufacturer and series, glass type and thickness, hardware allowances or specific hardware items, field testing scope (AAMA 502 water test, mock-up), lead times, exclusions (structural steel, slab edge prep, blocking, electrical for operators), and clarifications on any ambiguous details. Proposals that lack these details generate change orders.

Frequently asked questions
What does a Division 08 bid package typically include?
A complete bid package includes architectural drawings (plan, elevations, details), CSI specifications (Sections 08 41 00 through 08 88 00 as applicable), addenda, project schedule, bid form, subcontractor qualifications requirements, and bonding and insurance requirements.
How long does it take ACG to turn a bid?
Standard turnaround is 5–7 business days for straightforward storefront and glazing packages. Complex curtainwall or large-volume scopes may require 10–14 days for accurate pricing, especially if HVHZ NOA compliance or custom anchor engineering is involved.
What is ACG's bonding capacity?
ACG carries a $3M single-project bond limit and $6M aggregate bonding capacity. For projects requiring higher limits, contact us — we have upgrade capacity with surety documentation available on request.
Does ACG use Procore?
Yes. ACG operates in Procore for RFI management, submittals, daily reports, and document control. We can connect to a GC's Procore project as a subcontractor, or run parallel documentation on our end for GCs using other platforms.
What is ACG's safety record?
Zero OSHA recordable incidents since 2021 across all Florida operations. We maintain a full OSHA 300 log and EMR documentation. Safety certifications available upon prequalification request.
Can ACG bid multiple systems on the same project?
Yes. ACG frequently scopes entire Division 08 envelopes including storefront, curtainwall, window wall, automatic entrance systems, fire-rated glass, and interior glazing under a single subcontract. A consolidated scope simplifies GC coordination and reduces interface risk.
