I'm Connor Walsh, President and co-founder of American Commercial Glass.
At 18 I was a commercial pilot. At 19 I was flying Gulfstream and Challenger jets. I got my private license in high school, lasted about a year at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and left the classroom for the cockpit because ratings came faster in the air than in a lecture hall.
In January 2017 I walked away from that seat to start contract flying and my first company, GoGym, a membership that unlocked gyms nationwide for people who travel for a living.
On May 25, 2017, driving to the gym, I hydroplaned into oncoming traffic. Trauma hawk to the hospital. Coma. A tube in my brain. Diffuse axonal injury, a traumatic brain injury. Doctors told my parents I would never live a normal life. After a month in the ICU I walked out of inpatient rehab in under 30 days, then spent six more months recovering at home.
January 2018: I started at the bottom at my dad Jeff Walsh's company, Liberty Builder Group, warehouse and field, eight dollars an hour, 50 to 70 hour weeks. One day in the truck I asked him how I was supposed to make real money long-term. He said he wanted to start an impact window business. I had zero glazing experience. I went all in anyway and founded Liberty Impact Windows & Doors.
Year one: just over $400K. Year two: $2.1M. Year three, through the pandemic: $5.8M. Year four: over $10M in annual sales. Then I sold it in 2021.
In 2021 I co-founded American Commercial Glass. My wife, Rielly Walsh, joined in 2022 and leads ACG as CEO and majority owner. ACG is a Florida-licensed commercial glazing contractor (FL CGC #1531993) based in West Palm Beach, with offices in Naples and Tampa. We self-perform storefront, curtain wall, impact systems, entrances, and related Division 08 work. GCs get a clear written budget pricing in 48 hours, not a guess.
Outside Florida we furnish materials and consult. No Tennessee office. No Tennessee field labor.
Flying taught me to brief, verify, and execute. The crash taught me what all in actually means. That is how I write, estimate, and run jobs.
