We get asked one question more than any other: what does commercial impact glass actually cost per square foot in Florida? Here is the 2026 answer, segmented by glass assembly type and AHJ region.

What 'impact glass' actually means in Florida commercial context

Commercial impact glass in Florida means laminated glass tested to Florida Building Code 1626 (cyclic pressure) and ASTM E1996/E1886 (large missile impact). HVHZ markets (Miami-Dade, Broward) additionally require Miami-Dade NOA approval. Outside HVHZ, FL Product Approval (FBC) is sufficient. Standard interlayer is 0.090 inch PVB; SGP (SentryGlas Plus) is the premium upgrade used on hurricane shutters, balcony rails, and structural applications.

Per-square-foot pricing — storefront impact systems

Drivers: HVHZ vs FBC, glass thickness, anchor density, and anodized vs PVDF finish.

Per-square-foot pricing — curtain wall impact systems

Stick-built vs unitized matters: stick-built dominates Florida commercial under 80 feet, unitized for high-rise.

Per-square-foot pricing — punched openings (impact windows)

Wood frame impact windows are not commercial-grade in Florida and we don't quote them.

What changes the price

(2) PVDF Kynar vs anodized vs powder coat — PVDF adds cost over standard finishes. (3) SGP vs PVB interlayer — SGP adds cost on the glass line item.

Material vs labor split

On a typical Florida impact glazing scope, glass and framing material is the most extensive component, with field labor and then sealants, anchors, and accessories making up the balance.
