A professional commercial glass installation includes submittal package, material delivery, field installation, sealant application, hardware install, field quality control, punch list closeout, and warranty documentation. Anything not on this list is either change-order work or a different contract scope. Here is the complete checklist.
Submittal package (pre-construction)
Sealed shop drawings (10-15 business day turnaround at ACG).
Product data sheets (aluminum, glass, hardware, sealants).
NOA documentation (Miami-Dade HVHZ) or Florida Product Approval documentation.
Engineer-of-record sealed structural calcs.
Sealant compatibility letters.
Hardware spec sheets.
Installer warranty letter.
Material delivery
Aluminum framing, glass, anchors, weatherstripping, gaskets, setting blocks, sealants, hardware delivered to site per phased install schedule. Material protected from weather and damage on site.
Field installation
Layout and template. Frame dry-fit and assembly. Anchor installation per calcs. Glazing per spec (captured or structural silicone). Sealant application per substrate and joint design. Hardware install and final adjustment. Daily site cleanup.
Field quality control
Layout verification before frame install. Anchor pullout testing where spec requires. Sealant durometer reading 24 hours after application. Field water testing per ASTM E1105 where spec requires. Foreman walks every elevation before sealant covers the anchor.
Punch and substantial completion
Punch list created by GC and owner walk. ACG addresses punch inside 5 business days standard. Substantial completion sign-off includes warranty letter, as-built shop drawings, manufacturer certificates, and operations and maintenance documentation.
Warranty handoff
Manufacturer warranties (glass 10 years on IGU, aluminum 5-10 years on finish, sealant 10-20 years on structural). Installer warranty (ACG 2 years standard, 5 years extended). Documentation package delivered to owner.
